Chrome 10 is here, IE 9 next week, Firefox 4?

By Detector | 10 March 2011

Google release a new stable release of the Chrome Web browser one week before official IE9 launch date. The new version introduces more JavaScript performance enhancements, a eye blink fast page rendering, new plug-in security features, improved support for synchronization, and a new user interface for the browser’s settings, which we like it a lot.

With the new Chrome version, security is vastly improved becouse plugins, particularly Adobe Flash are now sandboxed. It means that Flash’s access to sensitive system functionality is limited, so the browser cannot be crashed by the failure of flash or other plugins.

A new settings panel introduced in Chrome 10 offers a big usability boost. Instead of displaying its settings in a native-looking dialog window, the browser now shows its settings in a web-like presentation. It’s a cleaner and more easy to use than before.

The best Chrome feature is highly sophisticated JavaScript engine. The latest JS optimizations in Chrome 10 reportedly are 66 % faster on Google’s own benchmark. For the real user – it is eye blink fast loading web pages and it proves that Google does not work only on cosmetic changes to its browser.

Users can download Chrome 10 from Google’s Chrome website or update it on browser Options/About Google Chrome/.

Internet Explorer 9 comes next week

IE9 release date is announced on Monday, March 14th, almost a month after Release Candidate version. This is very important IE release for Microsoft and all IE users, because of emphasis placed in the browser to strictly respect web standards, which has not been the case before. Microsoft expects that IE9 will stop, or at least slow the decline that has going from years comparing to the other browsers.
Among other things, the new IE brings a simplified interface, faster JavaScript engine, support for hardware acceleration and HTML 5, and “smart” address bar from which you can do web search, similar to Chrome.

Firefox 4 – After IE9

Officially, Firefox 4 will be released after Internet Explorer 9, we expect maybe week or two after. Firefox was in public beta before IE9 had even been mentioned public by Microsoft, but obviously, Microsoft is in a releasing rush becouse Firefox 4 will dig even deeper in IE share part. According to us, Firefox 4 is really fast and very stable, almost bug free Firefox version but we cannot understand Mozilla release policy and official release delay that probably will have negative influence for their community after releases of both Chrome and IE9.
