The lion’s appetite for Apple Mac OSx Lion
Slide which was shown last year at the presentation of the new Apple operating system Mac OS X 10.6, popularly known as Snow Leopard, the number 0 which was printed below the innovation list are used for humorous and photomontage of cruel mockery of apple opponents. That was an imaginative way to emphasize that the work of developers was focused on the optimization of the existing OS material. However, alternating slides associated to the upcoming OS X 10.7, namely Lion, on which, only fools are mocking.
Although we were all together interested in grandiose news about new OS X , probably the largest and the most important of the news is hard to ignore: App Store integration into the operating system. This feature will be added into the current Snow Leopard, but on Lyon will enjoy its status as one of its key components. This feature brings, and so far existed only for Apple’s mobile phone, portable player and tablet – centralized place to buy all Apple applications.
One of the most powerful (and quite justified) arguments of Windows supporters is that Windows has extremely luxurious offer for applications. That means for virtually every business (or “job”) you have several dozen software solutions – commercial or free. Offer for Apple’s platform is considerably more modest and less diverse. This anomaly cannot be solely added to the much greater popularity of Windows compared to OS X – a large part of the problem is the marketing of applications themselves.
But, the implementation of the Mac App Store in the operating system makes application for OS X to become interesting and potentially very lucrative deal for a broad group of home and professional programmers. For presentation and advertising of high-quality solutions Apple will take care now. If someone is skeptical about this just visit App Store for iPhone and iPad and you can understand the proportions and significance of what is being said here.
Other features and improvements of this upcoming OS will be: iLife 11, Launchpad, greater level of support for the multitouch touchpad using the MacBooks and Magic Mouse on Apple’s desktop computers.
Of course, this business model will bring to Apple a new source of profit, which really will not be surprise, anyone.App Store operates on the “nothing without the approval of the commission, which is in the world of mobile applications proved fantastically profitable business model. But if the criteria for placement of individual applications are too rigid as is the case with the iOS I think that jailbrake applications will be of the various “open source” solutions.
