Fedora 13 released
Fedora project has released Fedora 13 codenamed “Goddard” after the rocket scientist Robert Hutchings Goddard – and with slogan “Rock It” is ready for download. For the people who do not know about Fedora, the Fedora project is sponsored by Red Hat and parts of this distribution are used as a foundation for very popular Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Fedora 13 as always is packed with the latest and current software selection as well as many technological improvements. The new intuitive and simplified step by step installation process is really enjoyable for every computer noob. This release comes with kernel mode setting (KMS) – open source 3D graphic drivers for ATI, Nvidia and Intel graphic chipsets. The installed shell is GNOME 2.30, the latest stable version of the GNOME desktop environment. This version adds additional improvements such as support for a split-pane view in the Nautilus file manager, support for Facebook chat in the Empathy instant messaging client, and improved iPod compatibility. Fedora simplify the printer installation with easy plug in and print automatic driver installations and has color management – including a tool for creating color profiles. It is also more sociable than ever and it comes with a lightweight Twitter and Identi.ca client called Pino.
