Ubuntu One music store is online for business. It was a closed beta for a test period and now it goes to the public but still as beta, so if someone experience any bug submit that to Canonical.

Why you should buy from this store? First of all, all songs are MP3 without DRM so it can be played on any device supporting MP3. Second, Ubuntu is free OS, and this is alterative way to finance the project and other Ubuntu activities. It will improve our community Operating System in the feature. We expect even Movie store in next Ubuntu release. What should Canonical do to improve this project? Well, make some Ubuntu one app for Android, Windows mobile or even iPhone (If Apple permit it?) devices because many songs these days are downloaded through this devices.

Now a One Music Store in details:

• The store will be powered by 7digital, a privately owned digital media delivery company based in the UK.
• Tracks offered by 7digital for the Ubuntu One Music Store will be available in MP3 format without any DRM as mentioned before
• The store is integrated into Rythmbox.
• Region are divided in Ubuntu One Music Store as
  - UK
  - USA
  - Germany
  - Rest of the EU (i.e. not UK and Germany)
  - Rest of the World (i.e. none of the above listed countries)

When Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Beta 1 was releases, Ubuntu One Music Store was not included with it although an icon was included with Rythmbox. However, if you are already using Lucid, you can start using it. Here is easy installing tip. Open the terminal and copy paste this lines:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store

After installation you can enable this plugin from Rythmbox Edit -> Plugins. Enjoy with your new music store.
