Windows 7 tips: Using Check Box and Always Show Menus

By Detector | 30 July 2009

With this DetectorPro “tips and tricks” post we will cover two Windows 7 tips: “Use Check Box to Select Items” and “How to Always Show Menus in Windows Explorer”.

1. Use Check Box to Select Items

Sometimes it can be difficult to determine what files are selected in the Explorer when you want to copy, move or delete files. To make the selection more obvious:

  • Open the Control Panel
  • Go to Folder Options
  • Check Scroll doown and check Use check boxes to select items
  • Click Apply and OK

2. Always Show Menus in Windows Explorer

When using programs like the Windows Explorer, the top menu is not displayed by default. To change that:

  • Open the Control Panel
  • Go to Folder Options
  • Check Always show menus
  • Click Apply and OK
