By Detector | 24 June 2009

According to the site ArsTechnica, Google has so far collected over one million phone numbers, for now only in the U.S., in preparation for public launch of its new IP telephony service Google Voice. Currently the service is in the phase of the closed beta testing, and it is a technology that Google get it by purchase GrandCentral Company two years ago. Google Voice uses only one telephone number that can switch calls to their existing phones. It has built a voice mail that can be accessed via telephone or the internet, and can store audio messages, such as Gmail.

The service offers the possibility of transcription of messages – convert speech to text, for now only in English. In this way, messages can be searched like any other text content and forward the text to any mail address.
