Windows Proxy tip: Avoid Hacker Attacks and Surf Anonymously
As you already know, every computer during the connection to the networks of all networks (Internet) from every DHCP provider receives (or better yet, rents) a unique IP address. That address can be considered something like a unique citizen number of the network and with it a computer can be identified on the network. In the whole world, two computers cannot have the same IP address at the same time because in that case it would be impossible to achieve a connection with other computers. We also have to mention the fact that it is very simple to determine from which country (or city) you are connected from, all with the IP address which is given to your computer, or your Internet provider that is. As we do not live in a perfect world, there are a huge number of people with bad intentions who use this for attacks and intrusion in other computers all with the goal of doing harm or simply for fun. If you are constantly afraid of these hacker attacks, or you simply want to surf anonymously, or you just not like to share your locations on Location Awareness on Gmail, there is a simple solution in the form of public (and free) proxy servers.
You can envision a Proxy server as the spokesperson between you and the rest of the Internet, and so the whole traffic you make surfing the vastness of the Internet goes through this proxy. In other words, if you surf the Internet through a proxy server in India, someone wanting to know what country you are from will think you are from India, and your true location is miles away in another city. So how does one go about doing this? Fire up your web browser and visit the following website and choose any server from the list and enter its IP address into Internet Explorer settings. You will do this by opening Internet Options, clicking the Connections tab, then selecting the name of your connection and clicking the Settings. Select the Proxy server options and in the field for entering the address enter the IP and the port of your chosen server. Click OK and no the whole traffic will go through the server you entered in the settings.
And know that you know how to hide your true location; we would like to add this. Surfing through free proxy servers, which are mostly located in exotic countries (Africa, southern Asia), is very slow. Those servers are being changed daily, are working under constant workload and very little bandwidth, so it is almost certain that you will give up on everything and revert to a classical Internet connection in a few hours.
