Canonical Will Stop with the Support of Linux Ubuntu 7.10. After One Month
Canonical, before 18 months released Ubuntu 7.10. with code name Gutsy Gibbon – the version which got a lot of sympathy among Linux users.
Default working environment for Ubuntu 7.10. was GNOME 2.20. “Gutsy” was the first Ubuntu release which included Compiz effects, as well as the “Ubuntu Restricted Extras” packages in the repository, which facilitate the installation of user codecs, such as Java, Flash, MP3, etc. Support for reading and writing in NTFS partitions, option for easy setup of the monitor and graphics card, as well as detection and installation of the printer was automatically included in this release.
Without doubt, it was a great Linux release. But, after one month from now, Canonical will stop with the support ( and updates) of Ubuntu 7.10. It is recommended to all users to upgrade their Ubuntu 7.10. to the current version.
At the same time, also stop the support for Linux Mint 4.0 (which is based on Ubuntu 7.10.) and upgrade is also recommended to users of Linux Mint 4.0.
