By Detector | 09 January 2009

If downloading and installing Ubuntu themes is to complex for you, try Epidermis, Ubuntu theme installer. Epidermis has options to change whole desktop with just a single click or you can choose what to change: Wallpapers, Icons, GTK, Metacity (Window Manager), cursors, login screen (GDM), load screen etc.. Epidermis has repository URL, and it comes with 4 themes, but you can update repository to get more themes. The installation of Epidermis is really easy, just download the automatic installation .deb package from here, double click on it and after installation you can found Epidermis at Applications/System Tools/Epidermis or press Alt+F2 and in run window enter “epidermis” without quotes.

Start Epidermis, and at find more tab you can select what theme to install. Here is picture of Epidermis and MacOS X theme skin already applied.

Epidermis can only change Metacity (Window Manager) themes. If you want to install transparent window manager with 3D effects – Emerald, or apply themes on other way, read this DetectorPRO tutorial.
