Wine goes 64bit when Wine developer Maarten Lankhorst succeeded in running ‘Hello World’ in 64-bit, natively! Wine is very popular and widely used for running native Windows programs on Linux, with impressive compatibility list of programs and games.
The progress was made but it has a lot to do before this will be able to get into mainline though – said developers. Wine development is running fast in past months with financial and knowledge support of big companies like Google and others.
