10 Useful Windows XP Tips and shortcuts

If you like to finish your tasks faster and make significant step in your Windows XP usage, use following tips and keyboard shortcuts anytime in your work with Windows XP operating system:

  1. Click the Windows + L key for a fast switching to the welcome screen or to lock your computer
  2. You can switch users without going through the Welcome screen: From Task Manager, go to the Users tab, right-click a user, and select Connect.
  3. You can rename multiple files all at once: Select a group of files, right-click the first file, and select “Rename”. Type in a name for the first file, and the rest will follow.
  4. Hold the Control key when drag and drop to force a Copy.
  5. Hold the Shift key when drag and drop to force a Move.
  6. Hold down the shift key when deleting a file to delete it immediately instead of placing it in the Recycle Bin. WARNING: Files deleted in this way cannot be restored.
  7. For fast closing the open windows press Alt+F4. You can use this command for the faster shut down also.
  8. In Firefox and Internet Explorer, holding the Control key while turning the mouse wheel will change the font size.
  9. Ctrl+Shift+Escape or Alt+Control+Delete will launch Task Manager.
  10. ALT+TAB switch between open items.
